Finding a Mentor

Posted on by Martin Corder

A 5th grade teacher called me with concerns about Nancy. She didn't have a lot of support, “Her mom is trying,” he said. When I showed up, she was meeting with a school cop. At first, what I saw was a bright, outgoing young lady. It wasn't long before I saw something else... she didn't have good boundaries. She was loud, disruptive and not afraid to talk back. Because she is hurt and lacks trust she was unsafe to those around her.  Today, Nancy is in our HATS Club (a mentoring group for elementary aged students) where she has connected with a mentor.  Nancy is maturing. She's developing a better attitude about life, and growing in respect for others and herself. What a blessing to see Gods hand on Nancy as we walk alongside, mentoring and caring for her. She is finding peace through the support you provide.
