The Board of Directors is made up of caring, concerned adults from the community.

Our Board provides direction, oversight, and vision for the Executive Director.

This team meets monthly for prayer, ministry updates, and strategic planning.

Meet the Board

  • Mike Messenger
    2003

    Graduated from Medford Sr. High with the Class of 1975 and a BS in Safety and Health from Oregon State University, 1982. Married to Lori.  Two daughters that are both married: Sara (Russ) Bartlett and Michelle (Carlos) Stevenson.  Two grandsons.

    Since 1996, Mike has worked as the Risk Manager, Human Resource Manager and Safety Manager for Rogue Disposal and Recycling, Inc.

    I love that YFC’s goal is to reach every young person with the life- changing message of Jesus Christ.

  • Thomas (Tom) F. Carter
    Chairman
    2006

    Graduated in 1976 from Southern Oregon State College (SOSC) with a Degree in Business Accounting. Passed the CPA exam in 1978. Married to Glenne. Two sons that are married: Kyle and his wife Joanna live in Medford with two daughters Caroline and Bethany. Kacy and his wife Jennifer live in Mulino, Oregon (near Oregon City) with their son Hudson.

    Tom’s work experience is with Yergen & Meyer CPAs from 1975 through 1979, Jackson County Federal Savings & Loan from 1979 through 1986 (last position as Treasurer/CFO) and President of Northwest Retirement Plans, Inc. since 1987.

    My wife and I have always had a heart for the youth of our community. Glenne is able to carry out that calling as a teacher with the Medford School District. When our children were younger we were involved in their activities and with their friends. Once they were grown I searched for a way to continue helping our youth. Although I have volunteered with many non-profit organizations, YFC provides the most direct interaction with our youth and they carry the most important message of salvation through Jesus.

    Born in Ashland, Oregon. Received a Bachelor of Science degree in math from SOU. Married to Marilyn.  Daughter Chelsea lives in Medford, and a son Devin lives in Nashville, TN.

    With so many single parent families and the peer pressure that young people have today,  I love the mentoring programs provided by YFC, that help young people to thrive and bring many of them to Christ.
